The Requiem for Battered Souls

Welcome to the new weblog for the Requiem for Battered Souls. This blog chronicles the development of an ambitious project, intended to increase awareness of domestic violence and to raise funds for a variety of related charities.
Several survivors of domestic violence from across the Kansas City metro
area have come together with an ambitious plan to apply the healing power
of music to the ongoing problem of violence in our society. Barbara E.
Garrett, composer-in-residence at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, has been
commissioned to compose a requiem honoring victims of violence. This
major work is excpected to premiere in October of 2005, with proceeds
from all performances to benefit relevant charities. The hope is that this
project will:

* bring attention to the issue of violence of all kinds

* assist with the healing process and bring relief for victims
